Luise Rainer, born in Dusseldorf, Germany in 1910 is the first actor to win two consecutive Academy Awards (1936 and 1937), the meteoric star of eight MGM movies of the 1930s, whose Hollywood career as 'the new Garbo' was over in the space of four years. Once feted as one of the studio's brightest stars her historic rise and fall is the stuff of Hollywood legend.
 
Luise Rainer is now 102 years old and lives in London.
